Towne Park Master Plan
Located in the heart of Old Town Algonquin, Towne Park is a 12-acre park located right off Main Street. Towne Park is one of the Village’s most popular and heavily used parks. The Park facility currently includes a baseball diamond, playground, benches, bathrooms and picnic area. Unfortunately, these park elements are beyond their useful lives and without improvement could provide safety concerns.
In April 2021, the Village of Algonquin adopted a Parks and Recreation Master Plan that identified improvements to address over the next decade. Towne Park is one of the 21 park sites the Village maintains and was identified as a priority in the plan. Due to the importance of this park to the community and Old Town Algonquin, the Village has begun a Master Plan Study for improvements at the Park. The Master Plan includes two public meetings that were held to gather public input and feedback on potential improvements to include in the plan. |
The Algonquin Village Board approved the Towne Park Master Plan at their meeting meeting on June 21, 2022. Design engineering will now begin with the goal of having this project shovel-ready by summer 2023.
